含有两个羟基之有机化合物，和 Propylene Glycol 类似，但具更轻的质地。用于化妆品中作为结合水分，并帮助肌肤抓水，但小分子的醇因为挥发速度快，同时也更快从肌肤带走水份，因此实际上抓水能力并不高，有时功用反而在于协助溶解污垢，帮助活性成份渗透。

有个小建议：能不能允许普通用户输入网站未知成分的信息，经过管理员审查后，加入到成分的数据库中呢？因为有些成分数据库里查不到，如果像wiki一样，普通用户也可以补充信息，相信网站数据库会很快完善的：)

看到有些朋友说有成分查不到，大家可以换完整的英文名试试，其实大多数成分都能查到的。如果不知道英文名可以用百度搜索，或者用翻译软件，缩写一般搜不到。

意思是说1,4的毒性为1,3的15倍。 而这个网站说的是1,3型
丁二醇—四个碳(C)，两个(OH)， 所以可以有1,2-丁二醇 / 1,3-丁二醇 / 1,4-丁二醇，三种。
化妆品用的是1,3-丁二醇。
1,4-丁二醇才是作为迷姦药用的。

I understand it may be comedogenic to some, but not in all skin types, as everyone's skin chemistry is different & therefore will react differently for everyone! Makes sense, right!

I have an acne-prone skin and Butylene Glycol did not clog my pores. Why did I come up with that conclusion? There's this product from Acne.Org called Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% and of all the products that I have tried to heal my cystic acne, it is the only one that cleared me within 1 month. I checked cosDNA today and discovered that my acne treatment contains Butylene Glycol. SURPRISE! Never had any breakout for 1 year now.
Dan Kern, the founder of Acne.Org, did not include Butylene Glycol in his list of comedogenic ingredients to avoid because he knew that there's a low chance that it will cause acne. Ingredients rated 3 and higher in the comedogenic scale are the scariest and should be avoided at all cost.
